Types of Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT can help to reduce distress and improve your ability to function. It can be used for children and youth to change the way they think, act, and feel. Additionally, it is especially effective at managing mild to moderate anxiety and depression disorder. Because it is just as effective as medication, it makes it less likely for you to relapse back into anxious and/or depressive behavior. 

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR therapy can helps you to heal from emotional distress caused by traumatic experiences. Using methods such as eye movement and hand tapping, your counselor is able to reformulate your associated memories and help you heal. This kind of therapy is proven to provide the same benefits as years of psychotherapy. 

Expressive Therapy

Expressive therapy consists of playing, art, and writing which make it a safe environment for children to express their emotions and experiences. This allows your child to deal with emotional problems, increase self-awareness, manage behavior, develop social skills, cope with symptoms of stress and trauma, and restore a sense of well-being. 

Mindfulness Based Therapy

Mindfulness Based Therapy allows you to become aware of your thoughts and feelings and how you react to your surroundings. If you’re looking to change negative behaviors and improve self-awareness, this type of therapy can be very effective for you. 

Family Therapy

Family Therapy allows the family as a whole to to identify positive behaviors and those that cause distress. It’s main goal is to help your family focus on a child’s recovery from things like substance abuse or eating disorders, and strengthen the family altogether. 

Emotion Focused Therapy

EFT can help you to learn to deal with your emotions. It focuses resolving negative emotions you may be avoiding and past relationships with others or yourself. This kind of therapy can be helpful to build coping skills for moderate depression, child abuse, or eating disorders.
